Join The Texas Tribune for an interview with outgoing Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, the city’s longest-serving mayor, conducted by Tribune CEO Evan Smith. They’ll discuss Price’s accomplishments in office, the things she couldn’t get done and what she’ll do next.
Betsy Price, Fort Worth’s longest-serving mayor, has led the city through multiple once-in-a-century crises, including an economic collapse, a pandemic, a reckoning over race and a devastating winter storm. In January, Price announced that she will not seek reelection. The announcement marks the end of her 10-year stint as mayor and leaves the early May mayoral election up for grabs.
Join us live at noon Central on Thursday, April 22, to discuss Price’s successes in office, how Fort Worth has changed, how she has changed, how the Republican Party — her party — has changed and the things she couldn’t get done. The conversation will be moderated by Tribune CEO Evan Smith and will be available to watch on demand afterward.
Price was first elected to lead the city of Fort Worth in 2011. As mayor, she has spearheaded the citywide health initiative FitWorth and has helped launch Fort Worth’s Education Initiative to promote early childhood education. Before being elected mayor, Price served as Tarrant County’s tax assessor for more than a decade and was a private business owner.
Smith is the CEO and co-founder of The Texas Tribune. He is the host of "Point of Order," the Tribune's weekly podcast about the Texas Legislature, and “Overheard with Evan Smith,” airing on PBS stations nationally.
